Series: Scarlet & Violet (Specialty Set)
Paldean Fates Release Date: January 26, 2024
Set Abbreviation: PAF
10. Mimikyu (Baby Shiny) – $18.03

Card Number: #160/091
Rarity: Shiny Rare
Mimikyu's appearance in the top ten Paldean Fates chase cards is a more recent one. One of the few Baby Shiny cards to make the list, it's honestly no surprise given Mimikyu's overall popularity, and just coming out of the Halloween season. Plus, Acerola being highlighted once again in the TCG gives this little loner some extra visibility.
9. Charmander (Baby Shiny) – $22.18

Card Number: #109/091
Rarity: Shiny Rare
Charmander takes the number nine spot, likely due to a big hit we see further down the line combined with its status as an all-time favorite starter and quintessential Kanto Pokémon. Although, it's shiny form doesn't have any huge differences, Charizard does. That likely plays a major role in its spot on the list.
8. Ditto (Baby Shiny) – $22.32

Card Number: #201/091
Rarity: Shiny Rare
Playability meets recognition with shiny Ditto. This Pokémon allows you to search your deck for any Basic Pokémon to put in its place, while also being one of the more recognizable shiny Pokémon due to the sheer color difference. Interestingly enough, it's color palleted swap match Mew's lending to the fan theory of Ditto's origins as a failed Mew clone!
7. Mew ex (Shiny Ultra Rare) – $22.47

Card Number: #216/091
Rarity: Shiny Ultra Rare
Mew is the only Pokémon to score two spots on this list. With Mew having a history of great shiny cards from the Corocoro Comics promo to the Shining Legends Shining Mew, we are always going to see Mew hold a top spot when it's featured. Plus, it's just one of the better shiny Pokémon out there!
6. Snorlax (Baby Shiny) – $23.81

Card Number: #202/091
Rarity: Shiny Rare
Another shining example (no pun intended) of strong playability meeting fan appeal in a single card. As a Basic Pokémon, Snorlax can deal 130 damage while also adding Leftovers to your hand, a genuinely solid combination. When you pair that utility with Snorlax’s status as one of the franchise’s most beloved Pokémon, plus the subtle but noticeably improved color shift in its shiny form, you end up with the perfect recipe for a true chase card.
5. Iono (Special Illustration Rare) – $26.52

Card Number: #237/091
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Iono has become somewhat of an evergreen chase card throughout the Scarlet & Violet era. From the Paldea Evolved SIR to even the Iono Premium Tournament Collection, this trainer has cemented her place in the conversation of top trainer chases.
4. Pikachu (Baby Shiny) – $32.94

Card Number: #131/091
Rarity: Shiny Rare
What would a chase card list be if there wasn't a Pikachu? It would be a set missing Pikachu entirely. The most valuable Baby Shiny card in all of Paldean Fates is absolutely going to be Pikachu. While not the most popular shiny due to the very subtle color shift, Pikachu being THE Pokémon mascot will always play a factor in its chase value.
3. Gardevoir ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $116.00

Card Number: #233/091
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Our top three kicks off with the super elegant shiny Gardevoir ex Special Illustration Rare. The use of so many green and blue tones beautifully showcase this Pokémon flowing through a forest protecting a nest of Pachirisu while a silly whooper looks on in pure awe.
2. Charizard ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $235.53

Card Number: #234/091
Rarity: Special Illustration Rare
Charizard actually started as the number one chase in this set at launch! His crystalline artwork with the flames flowing from his mouth and dark colors are a perfect combination for a chase card. Similar to Pikachu, there isn't a set with Charizard where it isn't one of the top chases, and for good reason.
1. Bubble Mew (Special Illustration Rare) – $508.14

Card Number: #232/091
Rarity: Secret Illustration Rare
The ultimate chase of Paldean Fates. Dubbed "Bubble Mew" this shiny Mew's artwork is so child-like that it truly reflects the nature of this whimsical Mythic. A massive surge in popularity drove this card past the Charizard about halfway through this year.

Why People Love Paldean Fates
Shiny cards are like finding a hidden variation—rare, flashy, and beautiful without giving you an edge in battle
Baby Shiny cards hit a sweet spot: they feel classic (with the original border), but the shimmering effect makes them instantly collectible.
Final Thoughts
Paldean Fates stepped up the recurring "Fates" set format with incredible Special Illustration Rares, and despite them no making this list, some whimsical and loveable Illustration Rares. Ultimately, this set will be sought after long after the Scarlet & Violet era has ended.
